Ever since Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 came out in 2007, I have yet to find a better Dragon Ball game or an equivalent of it on the latest gaming consoles. Don’t get me wrong, there are tons of great Dragon Ball games out like Xenoverse and FighterZ. But there is something about Budokai Tenkaichi 3 that I loved and have been hoping for a remastered version. While I can rave on about my PS2 days with that game, today’s post is focused on the new Dragon Ball Action/RPG game from 2019’s E3 titled Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.

A while back, there was a new Dragon Ball game in the making titled Dragon Ball Project Z but the full name was finally revealed to be Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot at the trailer launch of the game at E3 2019, and what a surprise it was!

The trailer looks AMAZING, filled with many iconic moments (Yamcha’s pose is my favourite) and a new way of experiencing the well known story of Dragon Ball Z. It’s not a head to head 2D fighting game that I’m used to seeing from previous Dragon Ball game titles, but it is an open world game play, which in my opinion is pretty cool because sometimes all I want to do is to simply be able to fly around with Goku and blast a kamehameha at random buildings around town.

Here’s a couple of my favourite shots from the trailer

So, am I looking forward to the game? Absolutely!
There’s more to Dragon Ball than mindlessly fighting and I was thrilled . For many fans out there, this might look like just another Dragon Z origin game rehashing the same story but I hope the open world element of the game would give a different perspective and the rpg gameplay would elevate Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot to compete with my favourite title – Budokai Tenkaichi 3.
Although as much as I want to relive the iconic moments of Dragon Ball Z and fly around with Goku, there was no date given in the trailer besides the year.

If you’re following me till 2020, I will be sharing my full experience of the game on the PS4.
Also, I did not see Cell or Buu in the trailer. I wonder if they will appear in the game or will that be a part of sequel?
What about you? Are you excited for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot? What are your thoughts?
